940 T Wiring question 900 1994

Hi Everyone,

I live in Canada and I own a '94 944T (940 GL) that I bought out of the US about 4 months ago or so. It doesn't have electrically heated seats which I'd like to have for the winter 'cause leather seats are awfully cold in the winter time without seat heaters in 'em.

I just pulled a set of seat heaters and all the associated wiring for them out of an '86 765 T at the wreckers the other day and was wanting to retrofit my car with those seat heaters. I got the good/later type of seat heaters with two temperature settings so I was happy about that. Half price sale at the yard too so that was even better. I have the necessary upholstery tools (hogring pliers, etc) that I'll need for removing and replacing the seat skins so the upholstery part of the job is not a problem for me.

What is a bit of a problem, however, is that when I pulled the rear part of the shifter console off I found that there were no wires there to go to the seat heater switches. I was assuming/hoping that all 940s were wired for seat heaters, at least as far as to where the console switches go, but not all of them have that feature installed.

Is that a correct or incorrect assumption ? Is the wiring that I need to bring out to the console switches just folded up and tucked away somewhere behind the main center console or do I need to go back to that yard and get the rest of the wires that go out from the main harness to the seat heater switches on the shift console ?

Advice/assistance would be most appreciated.

TIA,

Roger
