1984 240 central lock issue 200 1984

Hello,

We have an old 1984 240 and a weird central lock issue. Ã…fter we bought the car I thought it was weird that it didn't have central locking. When pushing down on the knob, you could tell there should be some central locking. Anyway, I discovered tat fuse number 8 was no there and I installed one, which brought the central locking back to life.

However, it's not working properly. In the morning when the car hasn't been used, you can put the key into the driver side lock and it will unlock all the doors when you turn it, lock, unlock etc...no problem there. However, generally after it has been driven, the central locking system will not lock the other doors, and it has to be done manually. Sometimes, as yu try to active central locking, the knob on the driver's side back door will slightly move, a couple millimeters, but that's it. If you then lock all the doors by hand, you usually unlock them via central locking, but not lock them. It has happened that the locking functionality come back after fiddling with it but most of the time it doesn't.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? I'm thinking it could be a bad contact inside the door but I wanted to try and see if someone has an idea before taking the door apart for nothing.

by the way, I tried anther fuse as well to make sure it wasn't defective.

Thanks!
