Got any Front Crank Seal Replacement Advice? 700

hey guys,

First try was a failure, I did something wrong, now I have to remove timing belt etc again, got any tips to get this job done right, I'm doing it by hand, does it have to pushed all the way against the back? How do I know if its done right before I put timing belt back on? Need help,
