Newbie here.
I have had a longing to own a 1800 for a long time. Then after looking at them and frankly the price of them I started looking at the 122 more and more. while looking at them I began to see the beauty the 122 has over the 1800. Thus my search for a 122 began. My first find turn up on Craiglist as seen here:

The red one has Flintstone size holes in the floor boards but the exterior is better then the white shown shown. These were my original "projects" until I found my next purchase here:

I can't say enough about these beauties! They are in much better shape then my original two and are both 4 doors. Something I wanted all along. The green one is missing a cylinder head but the block is a B20 all the other three have B18's. Also the white one from the eBay auction is an automatic; which leads me to my question. (But this topic was more about introducing myself).
I like the idea of having an automatic but I would rather have a manual simply for the potential maintenance (and cool) factor. So with that what are the benefits over the 122 model automatics vs. standard transmissions?
