interior cab roof light doesn't work

The interior roof light in my 1993 240 doesn't light up when I open the door.
The light works by flicking the switch but I sure would feel better if my wife had some illumination at night... to help get the key in the ignition.
Do I replace the whole thing or is there a problem with the switch in the door. I'm not mechanic so If you know how to fix this lttle problem, please bear with me and give simple step by step instructions
