If you thought you could not afford to go racing but have always lusted after some track time your day has come.

Actually I think a Volvo 240 turbo is well suited for this event. My son drives a great running 82GLT M46 that would probably meet the expenditure limit because of the corrosion (and a deer hit) on the body, not to mention the 25 year old leather.
