water leaking into car from near the glove box 200 1989

My son is driving my old 240 GL volvo and it has been a reliable car since we bought it in l989. We are suddenly faced with water in the back passenger foot well after a hard rain. It isn't coming in from the sunroof and the only place we can see water dripping in the car is on the right side where the glove box is. There is only a little bit of water on the passenger floor but a lake in the back seat. Help!!
