DEAD '80 200

Just want to confirm my ideas. My '8o 242 has died I have been trying a number of things to locate the problem. So far I have replaced the jump tested the fuel pump relay, Tried a new relay, listened for the in-tank pump to start and was rewarded with a Whir, and replaced all fuses (since I was there). Any ways the car will not start unless I spray a little fuel in the cylinder and then only until it runs. I will replace the filter but I am suspecting the main pump is the problem is there any tests for this.
