timing belt mishap on an 88 240 dl with 300k+

i had my timing belt go out on me - but i didnt know it.
all i knew wdisas that my car stopped running and it wouldn start.
i thought electrical and started fumbling around with the distre ibutor
and the ecu and the coil as i dont really know what im doing.
It finally dawned on me what had happened when i went to replace the rotor
and it turned freely in my hand.
I replaced the belt. But no spark.
By that point i had bent a metal tripod type piece in the distributor as i had been trying to get it out thinking it was the problem.
so i managed to find a replacement distr. thinking that would fix the
no spark problem.
It didnt.
Theres power to the distr. and at the coil- but no spark.

any ideas.
is this totally ridiculous?
