Stumbling when cold. Spark plug wires or RPM sensor? 900 1993

Hi,

Have the last month experienced that car stumbles first minute or so when starting cold. No problems after the first min., drives OK after that, no poor performance whatsoever. Spark plugs and distr cap changed (was due), no improvement. Changed spark plug wires and coil-to-cap wire. Engine starts ok. No external sparks on coil in darkness, everything looks ok on inspection, coil not hot.

Problem is, OBD diagnostic gave 2-3-1 for LH 2.4 and 2-1-4 for ignition, the latter indicating intermittent poor signal from RPM sensor. Cleared codes after wire replacement, no new codes generated after first restart of engine, which ran ok (see above).

Questions: Can these codes be generated by faulty plug wires causing uneven rpm, or should I expect to have to change RPM sensor? How difficult is RPM sensor replacement? Any connectors to be checked before that, if problem reappears, and if so, where are they located?

Thanks in advance foor feedback
