I've just replaced my points with the Pertronix Ignitor #1847v ignition which appears to rely of magnetic induction (ie. Hall sensor type).
The dwell went from the 60 degrees recommended with points to about 49 with Pertronix. Dwell doesn't seem adjustable but that threw off my timing significantly. Timing went from about 14 to over 30. I rotated the distributor but only got down to 20 degrees before the holdown bolt blocked further timing reduction.
I haven't tested the car for pre-ignition yet, but seems to run well so far.
Anyone got input or experience with this problem?
