Think I've got it! (black smoke, FPR issue) 200 1984

Okay, tell me if this sounds like a reasonable explanation for my sudden black smoke problem:

If the FPR doesn't have enough vacuum (i.e. split in the line), the car runs rich, right? Well, one of the vacuum lines in my intake is disconnected - the one that goes to the flame trap. I discovered it a few days ago but can't seem to find the bugger to attach it to. Presuming both vacuum lines go to the same place in the intake, an open vacuum line would reduce vacuum to the FPR, thereby making it run rich. Is that a reasonable deduction?

So where's that flame trap anyway? What can I follow with my hand to get to it?

Alex
