Everyone,
I am experiencing a no start problem with my 95 940 wagon. It has the B230FD engine. The car stalled on me while making a turn and will not start since. I went through a few things. I checked the coil and spark, fine. Coil resistance and battery voltage, fine. I listened for relay clicks for the FI relay, fine. I listened for fuel pump action, fine. I checked to see if any codes registered with the OBD I unit, nothing.
The starter is turning, the acc belts move when I try to start it, but nothing catches, and it sounds different than a normal starting sound. I could smell a bit of fuel today when I try to start it for awhile. The turnover sound is higher pitched than the regular lower starting note. I thought that the timing belt might have snapped, so I pulled the top part of the timing belt cover and it was off the middle pulley (not the tensioner, the pulley 2nd from the bottom). I managed to put it back on but it didn’t change the no start status. I thinking that I’m looking at a Timing belt replacement. But I wanted to see if anyone had some thoughts about things that I might have missed and would need to look at or if I am on the right track.
Thanks,
Sean Twigg
