I'm convinced that I want to do the Electrical fan from mechanical fan conversion. I understand how to remove the mech. fan (changed my water pump) and that's no problem. I understand that there are several approaches for doing this, including using a new fan and relay setup or using a used GM fan (I don't recall what model). My concern has been that with a mechanical fan, I would always be assured to have a working fan and not have to rely on a frail electrical setup... but I realize that's me holding onto old ideas. An E-fan properly wired has few problems and the mechanical fan is a big drag (har har) on the engine. Also, the mechanical fan has a clutch that could lock or slip, so it's not that secure a thing to cling to.

I'm not sure how I would wire the trigger for the fan - the low/high 2-speed setup seems ideal to me. I suppose the fan should be on all the time on low with an option to kick to high when necessary - I suppose I would wire the high through the push-in/screw-in temp sensor in my radiator. There must be a good place to connect the always-on current (low) for the fan, right?

Would the fan have to draw air into the engine bay? This makes the most sense to me because it would work with the AUX fan and with the air flowing naturally over the radiator. I've never seen (haven't looked really) a fan that draws away from the radiator.

Granted that I have to install a few things, this is something I would probably be doing around November/December due to my work/school schedule.

I think a 5-point relay would work... But if there's one in particular, that would be great. I think there was mention of one type of Volvo 700 series with an E-fan from the factory. Maybe it was the 760 V6 or V6 turbo?
