Tonight I rolled over 240K miles on my 240.

Other than recent months of trouble it has been a great car.

In the end it appeared to be dirty fuel injectors. I took them back to Dr. Injector (specialty shops in Seattle). 2 are down about 50% since being cleaned 2 months ago (including new filters etc.) Dr. Injector is re-clenaing them for me. He suggested I run the car out of gas before I put these injectors back in (I'm using a different set of used injectors now).

Anyone else experience bad gas?

He suggested it could have been something as bad a sugar but I don't think anyone would have deliberately sabotaged my Volvo.

I will steer clear of Arco & Safeway gas just in case.
