I have a car I'm trying to register. I've been trying to figure out why the windshield wipers and the washers are not working. Today I thought I'd swap the motor from my other 240 (my runner). I disconected the plug and then went to remove the bolt to the arm. The bolt was being blocked so I plugged the motor back in and tried to move the working wipers using the stick on the steering column, the proper way, so I could remove the nut. ( I realize it would most likely just park in the same place anyways but I was going to try it anyways.) Some how the working wipers are now not working. They worked fine two days ago. A thought came to my mind that I had read somewhere, most likely Bentley, that you should remove the ( - ) battery cable. Can a motor be shorted out or damaged by unplugging it without first unhooking the battery cable? Not sure what else would have caused it to stop working? Thanks.
With the non working wipers the washer nozels are not working but with the newly damaged motor the washers still work. Odd strange things.
