I am a dumbass. But I feel good cause I finally fixed it!! 200

Hello all that have helped me so much in the past -

Almost exactly a year ago I had an idle problem with my '87 245. I had many exchanges with Rob and Art. "you're sure you don't have any intake leaks right? That's one of the main causes" That was like the first thing each posted. "Oh no. I'm an airplane mechanic you know. I know what I'm doing - I've checked all that" So today, after living with an engine that vibrated more than Elvises ass at idle, I did a well known trick a guy at DaisyWagon (on Roosevelt Way in Seattle) tought me years ago. Spraying carb cleaner anywhere and everywhere on the intake system. It idled like they should when I sprayed around the intake manifold - cylinder head interface (the carb/FI cleaner seals the leak for a few seconds.) I called AutoZone (open till ten) and had a new intake gasket installed within an hour or so. So all I can say is what I preach to my guys when I'm at work troubleshooting some weird problem on an airplane, "start with the basics". (actually that just hardly ever works with the airplanes I deal with! but whatever!)

Anyways, Thank you Rob and Art. If if weren't for you and that guy on the Cape and those guys in California and AND EVERYONE ELSE - this website just wouldn't be one of the most awesome car forums on the web. Oh yea, there's that guy in St. Paul named Jarrod Stenberg. Maybe it's all time we said thanks to him with our Visa. Thank you Jarrod!
