I have recently acquired a 1980 242 and I have a few questions. I noticed a wheezing sound from under the car that went away after I filled the car up with gas. With less that a 1/4 tank of gas the sound was very insistent and the car seemed relucant to catch while starting. With a full tank the noise is gone and the car seems to start easier. I also have an 87 245 and I know there is an in tank fuel pump. Is it the same for the 242? Could this be the source of the noise? I happen to have an extra in tank pump for my 245. Will it fit the same? I am also looking for a source of a few parts. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement tan rear deck, especially the plastic covers for the rear seat belt retractors. Mine are badly sun damaged and are falling apart. I also need the outside window stripping. My 245 also needs a tan vinyl rear seat back if anyone knows where I can find one.
