The situaion is that I reduced the dwell from 60 degrees down to 50. (Short version - tried Pertronix electronic Ignitor. Dwell programmed at 50. Problems. Decided to go back to points to get things right. Set dwell at 50 as it is supposed to be the "ideal" setting for a four cylinder.) The timing (and idle) increased. Backing the timing back down to recommended still leaves me with an idle of above 1000rpms.
I've got the throttle stop screw out all the way (I don't feel good about leaving stop screw out all the way as may lead to throttle plate sticking) and the idle bypass blocked (screw turned in fully) but idle is still high.
Any other way to adjust idle down?
TIA
