coolant expansion issue 700 1990

Dear all,

after running my '90 745 at extremely low speeds for about an hour and stopping I have noticed a tiny sizzle from the coolant expansion tank. It turned out that the coolant volume has expanded so much that there was even a small trace of leak through the cap seal on the expansion tank side. Opening up the tank showed much higher than MAX level which came to normal after a while though. Was it a normal behavior? (The coolant has been changed less than a year ago and looks clean and transparent when the expansion tank is lit on the side).
