Seat belt locking 900

I'm trying to put a carseat in my '93 945. On my other vehicles (non-Volvo), you would pull the shoulder belt all the way out, then the retractor mechanism would click as you let the belt retract, locking the belt after each click. That way you could install a carseat by threading the belt though the seat, then using the locking mechanism to tighten the belt to hold the seat in place. How do you do that on the Volvo?
