Spotted this while under the car Friday (15Sep06).
Tread on inside of each front tire is worn around the inside. So, thinks I, car has a toe-in problem.
But when slowly spinning the tire I noticed that the wear is far from being the same all the way around. Heavy in a small area, much less opposite that area. Both side have the same pattern. No sounds that would make me suspect a bad bearing came while spinning the tire fast, though I still wonder about the FW bearings.
The tires will need replacing soon. The alignment must be checked. I have a dilemma: Whether the alignment should be checked before the replacemant or afterwards, or both. The alignment was supposed to be checked and corrected as part of the repairs done after a right front corned collision in January.
So my question is twofold:
(1) When should the alignment check be done? Before new front tires or after?
(2) Any ideas of what would cause the odd tire wear pattern?
Thanks to all who answer,
Bob
