Hello All, i have just logged-in after searching around here a bit and liking what i have seen. My name is Mark and i am living in vermont USA. Very recently aquired a 1960 122 with what i believe to be a b20B engine(rebuilt) or so i am told. The car runs very well, needs some exhaust attention. Chasis number is 52329. Anywho... the evening i got the car home it blew a front wheel cylinder, go figure. I removed both front wheels to find a set of probaly toasted drums, Yes Drums. It has taken me three days to find a pair, but i think i have them on the way. now i need some shoes. I have called IPD and RPR, no luck. Does anyone out there have a source for a set of front shoes? wheel cylinders? rebuild kits even? I am a fairly acomplished mechanic, so feel free to give me your best advice knowing that i can do most anything. My background is in MG'S i currently have a 75 midget for my daily driver, rebuilt from the ground up, I am also working on a 59 MGA, but thats a real Looong ways away from the road. I was hoping to drive this 122 this winter.
other questions i have are:
just how rare is an early model like this?
if i wanted to convert this to front discs, what cars would make good donors?
i would like to upgrade the exhaust a little if possible, and advice?
Can any one tell me if 544 parts will cross on the brake questions?
well most likely that is enough for the moment. I look forward to chatting with you folks about my new ride and what i can do with it.
TIA
Mark
