I would like to install a 100-amp alternator, and I have a big one that will fit, but I have also noticed significantly smaller-diameter 100-amp alternators in later Volvos at the junkyard. In additoin to being smaller, they have larger cooling openings in the case, so you can see their copper stator windings.
Despite being smaller in diameter, they look as if their mounting points are compatible with the 240 bracket, and some have a pulley that looks OK, too.
Can anyone confirm they would fit the later-model 240s (B230F red-block engines) and that they are durable?
