Correct function of the high side pressure switch on the A/C 200 1993

The late model 240 electric cooling fan includes in it's circuit a pressure switch which is attached to the A/C lines directly below the lower radiator hose. Interestingly enough, there is an old Volvo TSB out for improving hot weather cooling by adding the radiator temperature sensor back into this circuit as was done on early model 240s.

Anyway, I cannot find documentation on the correct functioning of this switch. Is it supposed to be normally closed and then to open on an over-pressure condition?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John
