Smelling fuel 200

I have neglected the brick for the past year and the issues are starting to mount. I have a strong fuel smell at the back of car when the tank is full with no visible leaks underneath. My fuel guage has not been working for 6 months and I am tired of estimating how much gas I have left. What do I need to do to fix the gauge? Could it be something with the intank pump? Pls help thanks as always Phil
