This past Sunday at Hallett, we clinched the COMMA class PA championship for 2006 with one race left on the schedule. You may recall, we had taken a big points hit last month when a piston broke in our 142e. Well this month, the 2nd place guy had a similar problem... his 240Z engine seized during a morning practice session with an apparent bearing lubrication problem.
We also turned a personal best lap during the qualifying session (1:31.4), about 0.8 seconds faster than our previous best.
Our new engine was part of a complete race car buy on eBay that otherwise would have been a huge mistake... very rusty and very ratty. The uninstalled spare engine that came with the car however, was a new rebuild that had been blueprinted & balanced, etc. It is clearly as strong as either of the previous engines we've had in the car in the past two years.
