head gasket update 200

Well the 240's head finally came back from the machine shop. The car is a 1984 244 GL. If anyone remembers, it had a problem with the area around the combustion chamber part of the head. This area was pitted badly and the gasket wasn't sealing. I had that welded, surfaced, had the valve seals replaced, and installed with a new gasket. It also got new front oil seals, timing belt, water pump, and soon a flame trap/crankcase box cleaning. The car seems to run very well.

Some problems that I've noticed:

1.) I can hear the valves under acceleration when going uphill. I was thinking timing?

2.)The alternator doesn't seem to have the same tensioner as the B230 engines. This one is tightened by holding the alt. in place and tightening the nut. The alternator also wobbles around when the engine is running.

3. ) There's a loud whirring sound in the front end when I drive. I think it has to be a wheel bearing.

That's about it besides the fact that the car needs a new O2 sensor after the head gasket went. It seems like this is really going to be a nice car.

Thanks in advance.

Dave
