got my brick yesterday, drove 150 miles, then got up this morning at 7am, and drove some more!

1987 765ti 226k miles

love it!

gotta change the oil, but the PO didn't keep the oil topped off (needed 1.5 QTS when I picked it up)

the oil change interval was 3-6k, or 3-6 months, whichever was first....not the best, but kinda ok....he used dino oil....



so,

I heard to usre a MANN filter or a VOLVO filter....I am sure he used kmarts filters or whatever.....he had the local garage do the changes...

and..

I want to flush the motor....I am gonna do seafoam and autorx..but first wanna do a basic oil change to establish a baseline.....and, with the basic oil change, I wanna do a motor flush...but how?...I never did this before....just always took care of my cars...but I can imagine there is some stuff inside of this motor......the PO wasn't the most mechanical...in fact, zero....

My question is this:


ONE...
I wanna flush the motor, before the oil change....shoudl I run kero 1/2 quart inthe motor for about 20 min, not revving or drivg? or, buy one of those gunk flush cans of stuff at the local autozone.....or do you have any ideas?

TWO....
I always used mobil 1 filters in my other cars....is this ok for the volvo? or do I have to use MANN / VOLVO for the best longevity and results.....


I know these are basic questions....but thanks in advance for the answers....just want to know how to take care of the brick....want to get lotsa trouble free miles!
