Hi Guys,
Just bought a 740 Auto 2300 1990 model.
On the way home, I noticed a clucking sound from the front end whenever I went over a speed hump. I opened the bonnet (what you call the hood in the colonies!) and pushed up and down on the front of the car.
I noticed that the top of the shock absorbers are a little loose and when I push the car up and down, I can see a little movement/free play just under the big nut at the top. (There's the nut and some type of bush underneath it-its just under that bush that I can see the free play and hear a gentle knocking sound.)
Is this serious? Can I just tighted the big nuts? Do I need a torque wrench? I didn't want to do anything till I checked with you guys for fear of causing more harm.
Other than that, I love the car-runs beautifully apart from the clunking when I go over the speed bumps.
Thanks.
