What's the best way to flush my power steering system? 200

I just got this '83 245 and when I checked the power steering fluid it looks black and ugly, not the nice red color it's supposed to be. Does anyone have any experience in the best way for flushing the system? I guess I could pull the return line loose and drain it into a drainpan and then flush the system with fresh fluid a few times until all of the black is gone.
