Wheel bearings - the forgotten child

Thanks to you guys I have been doing most minor/moderate stuff myself (brakes, hoses, trans flush, etc.) but only recently realized (since I have seen a few wheel bearing posts) that I have never even thought about the wheel bearings.

Should I simply inspect them (how?) or just figure they need replacing and order them for the 1992 240 with 160k, 1993 240 w/130k, and 1997 850 with 130k?
