Last year I did a 100% rebuild on the front end of my 93 944. The car rode like a new one for about 4K miles then a popping noise started and has gotten progressively worse. I suspected the upper strut bearings, but took them out and lubricated them without much success in stopping the noise. I can 'feel' the clunking in the floor board wether going in a straight line and running over a speed bump or turning.
I removed the tie rod ends from the strut and had no noise in either strut assembly or in the rack when pushed from lock to lock. With the rack connected there is a noticable noise when the sterring wheel is turned from lock to lock.
Any suggestions before I delve into this any farther would be appreciated.
Regards,
