Help needed. Should I swap my 900 for an 850 900 1996

Hi I am in need of some guidance. Haveing been a volvo man all my life and currently owning three Volvos, I am tempted to part with my 940 High Pressure Turbo petrol Estate, in favour of an 850 2.5 TDI estate.

I hear good and bad things about the 850, and the fact that it is a copletely different car make me undecided. I hear a lot of bad things about the 900 but I have never experienced any problems other than the car is very thirsty on fuel when it is being driven hard.

I currently own a 740 estate 2.3 single carb with 250,000 miles which I have just put off the road for the same reason, and have bought a small Toyota (oh the shameof it)as a run about, but I still need the versatility of the Volvo Estate. My other Volvo is a Beauford Kit Car which I built myself and inserted a 240 2.1 engine into it. This is also heavy on fuel but its a fun car and is not used every day.

What should I do. Any views would be appreciated. Thanks.
