940 Turbo rebuild revisited

Hi All,

Thanks so much for your previous advice. I've been reading great amounts in the FAQ. What a wonderful resource! As I noted before:

http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=1118861

the burnt oil coming out of the tailpipe was quite intense. It is now a good deal better. However, when I step on it, it still really smokes. As I have been working on this vehicle, I can't help but be assurred that it has received a bare minimum of maintenance. The oil return tube for the turbo was quite clogged. There was blockage of other crankcase vent lines. The oil separator seemed reasonable. The intercooler must have held near a quart of oil. I removed the IC for this, and did not find a drain on it. Also, I've changed the oil and filter. _Seems_ like the oil burning is getting less.

I've also found a fair amount of recurring oil inside the intake portion of the turbo. No idea on what is going on the exhaust side. I'm thinking the seals on the turbo are not working well and the turbo will need swapped or rebuilt. Your ideas?

TIA,

Nick
