The rear bumper on my newly purchased 1990 240 fell of after a slight impact from an angle. The area where the aluminum core is bolted to the shock absorbing struts was corroded and brittle. I checked my 1986 245 which is my donor car and noticed that on the driver side of the rear bumper there is the same corrosion issue.
I was wondering if the front bumper at least the aluminum part would fit in the back and accept the vinyl cover . I suspect that there is less accumulation of dirt, salt and moisture in the front than there is in the back and thus less of a corrosion problem .
If this tranplant is not an option , is there an easy way to attach the bumper to another piece of wood or aluminum, relocate the hole on the original bumper and bolt the sound piece of aluminium to the bumper struts without too much cosmetic drawbacks?
