Funny Time 200

Alright guys. Here is something that some of you might find entertaining.
I went out to my 240 today and i went to start it up and it turned over like a champ, but it wouldnt fire. I did notice that i never heard the fuel pump do it's little noise when i turned the key, so i thought it was a fuel related. the thing i was confused about is that there were no warning signs like there usually are and i figured that maybe if one pump went out the other would at least provide enough fuel to get the car going. So after checking fuses i went and grabbed the fuel relay to rip it apart to see what was up with it when i noticed that the wires had been tampered with. I have had the car for about 3 years now and have driven it over 20,000 miles, so i am not sure if this could have caused it. Anyways, There are like 6 wires going to the relay and the blue/green wire had been cut and spliced in on the connector side to the yellow/black wire. Any idea why this was done? i am going to check alldata to see what those wires do, but i wanted to post here as well. Any idea why this might have been done in the first place and if it could have caused my problem, even after 3 years of completely reliable driving?
