Sunday the 940 and I are going for a little drive, it's been a few months since its been well exercised. The car is a 1996 940 SE Turbo with a manual box. The '96 bit may be stretching it slightly, it was registered on the 10th of January 1996, and I somehow doubt they found a Swede sober enough to build a car between the end of December and the 10 th of January!
Starting in the UK we'll go to Dover, and take the ferry to Calais. From calais we drive down towards Paris, and on to Orleans. I then skirt south of Dijon and go to Basel in Switzerland. From there its over the Alps towards Italy and down to Milan. From Milan its east towards Venice, following the Austrian/Slovenian border towards Graz. Then its up, towards Vienna, then Salzburg and into Germany going north of Munich.
Just past Stuttgart I go north, straight through Frankfurt and then turn west towards Cologne. Shortly afterwards we run out of German soil and hit Holland. I go as far as Rotterdam, then go south, into Belgium, through Antwerp, towards Ostend and follow the coast to Calais, ferry and home.
Life is grand. I'll give the car a quick service Saturday, all I need to do is make up my mind whether or not to throw on its winter tyres?
I reckon its at least 3500 miles, and it will take 12 days, though the driving is incidental, I'm going to see a load of potential new customers.
