need help ASAP - fuel pressure regulator o ring 200

hey there,

just unhooked my fuel pressure regulator to replace. the one i unhooked from my car didn't have an O-ring. well, it had the plastic grey one, but not the black one on the replacement. seems like the new unit won't fit with the black o ring on?

so, should i take it off or try and jam it in?

the manual says put a bit of engine oil on the o ring which makes me think it should stay.
