Hello All!
I should have taken a picture of my radio wiring harness before I cut and spliced, but too late.
I am trying to install an aftermarket cd/radio in my '93 240.
I of course in a rush cut the stock harness off figuring a quick splice job would be in order. Well, now that I have the thing installed, the sound cuts-off after 20-30 seconds. The radio stays on, but no sound.
I must have made a wrong connection.
Can anyone with knowledge of this type wiring harness explain the wire colors and uses? I am lost looking at the Hayne's schematic.
On the harness I cut, the solid green is constant power. The yellow/black stripe is active with the ignition on. The brown, red and white/blue stripe wires don't have any current. And the two blacks I guess are for ground. Why two blacks?
So I have the battery wire from my radio connected to the green, the ignition wire connected to yellow/black stripe and the ground to one of the blacks.
My radio has power ant and remote turn-on wires which I did not use.
I removed the harness from the amp and connected the speaker wires directly to my radio speaker wires, eliminating the amp.
Thank you.
