Greetings! Just purchased my second Volvo (after a 17 year hiatus). I am the proud owner of an '88 760 Turbo. It needs a few things, but is a pleasure to drive. I'm about to do all of those things that one does with a new (used) car, like oil (looks good, but it's cheap insurance), air filter, etc... I've read the faq, but would appreciate personal opinions regarding oil (synth vs dino) and spark plug brands. I'm also about to go through all of the hoses (such fun!). One thing i do have a REAL question about, is when taking off from a start, there is a brief, and barely perceptable thunking from the rear end, which only happens from a standing start, and only lasts about a second or two. Also, any timing belt tips? I don't know when it was last done, and am contemplating doing it myself. I've never done one, but have heard they're pretty simple in RWD Volvos.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
TIA,
Mark A. Busse
