Hi,
Well I have had my '91 245 on the road a week now. I paid pretty serious $ to have a wiring harness for the tailgate installed; a head pipe (from motor) and over axle section of exhaust fitted.(I am down on tools, the Bentley is on order from Amazon and I don't have much time).
So today after 2/3rds of the way through a stunning drive in southern VT (for work) I hear a light tinkling sound, when next I opened the throttle I noticed far higher volume. I stopped and discovered the tail pipe had disappeared. I retraced my steps to find the piece but couldn't spend more than 20mins on the task. No sign of it.
So my ?s are:
Does this seem like the technician did not tighten the bolts or the clamp failed somehow? (the rear muffler appears sound).
Do I have some recourse, claiming it was faulty work?
Should there be a clamp holding the tail pipe on to the car or does it just 'hang' from the muffler (it seems too long for this).
Thanks, eager to hear.
p.s. I really hate working on exhaust systems...
