Hi all,
I recently suffered through a broken seat back release handle assembly on an otherwise well behaved '88 wagon. I'd very much like to keep this from happening on the other wagons in the fleet. Has anyone ever figured out how to extend the lives of these post-85 (plastic) devices? (Those earlier metal ones were just fine by me...)
When the handle on the '88 broke, I went through the other wagons and sprayed the outer latches that hook the seat back to the sides of the car with PB Blaster and worked them through their range of motion a bunch...but lubricating the cables themselves and the internal handle mechanism??? I'm not sure how to do it short of taking the seat out of the car and then apart. Ideas? Shortcuts? Success stories?
