240 Heater problem 200 1986

I have a 1986 240 Dl wagon with 215,000 miles.
The temperature adjustment in the car for the heater seems to be either on full blast or off completely. There doesn't seem to be any in-betwen.
I used to have an '82 240 GL that had the same problem.

Can anybody tell me what needs replaced on this thing?
