No start problem(s) 200 1989

worked fine all day,stopped at market last evening, crank(and crank) but no start. This is a well maintained car so I thought my 561 ECU had failed. It started up this evening (24 hours later,and restarted when hot)and ran fine. My understanding is the ECU work or don't and that they don't take holidays. Any ideas what to check?
