ENGINE light on the left side dash comes on....... 200

I own a 1991 240 automatic that's a little work horse. She's a great car...over 200,000. Every now and then the light appears...when I turn it on. Igive her a liitle gas and it goes away..Sounds a little rough. Am I right and thinking she just needs a tune up? She has no trouble turning on..doesn't seem rough or a trouble start or anything like that. Would you put in new plugs? what else would you do? thanks for the advice.....Lynn
