overheating - water pump or temp comp board??? 200

'86 240DL with 59k miles...

A few years back I replaced the temp comp board (not a bypass), radiator, thermostat, hoses, and water pump.

For the last few weeks, the temp guage at times (both while idleing and at highway speeds) climbs to 3/4 up the guage and higher (not into red zone). I replaced the thermostat (with a Whaler), but problem still exists.

It did it again tonight - I popped the hood and noticed that the upper hose was hot, while the lower hose was luke-warm at best. It is indicative of a bad water pump, or an obstruction in the radiator??

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!

Thanks
