I bought a 245 w/ B21 F from the original owner. It has only 84000 original miles and seemed to be well maintained. Owner said it ran fine when she last used the car, but after no use for 6-9 months it would turn-over but not start.
When I got there was no fuel pressure at the fuel filter. Both fuel pumps have since been replaced; that problem solved. Replaced gas in tank (smelled kinda funky!). Then the engine ran rich, fouled plugs and no-start. Had a mechanic install new 'fuel pressure regulator' (per Volve svc tech advice)...same symptoms/no change.
My mechanic has given up (small town; no Volvo or Bosch tech's).
Had car towed home. Curious, I tried to start engine and it ran for 4-5 min's.
However it smoked (black) to the extreme! Tried adjusting the 'fuel distributor'
at the 3mm hex (did'nt really know which way to turn for 'leaner', but neither direction seemed to make a change). My cousin confirmed the 'cold start valve' was operating correctly.
Now the worst part...after attempting to start it this last time, now "GAS IS IN MY ENGINE OIL"!!
Since my auto repair expr is limited, I've sought local mechanic advice and I cant get a consensus on whether there is a 'FUEL INJECTION' and/or 'ELECTRICAL'
problem(s).
Can anyone offer any advice or suggestion for possible repairs OR checks/tests
to determine actual problem??? I have my cousin visiting now and he's mechanically adept! **Grateful for any help**
Thanks, Brooks
