Hello all!

The gear shifter knob on my '80 wagon has the typical 4-speed grid with a sliding switch in the middle that is either "on" or "off". Is this an overdrive function? And if so, how does it work?
Do you simply put it in the "on" position while driving and the car shifts into overdrive at a certain speed?
