I work at a Best Buy and, lo and behold, today I saw a white Volvo 240 in the car audio install bay that looks just like my car. Curious, I went to talk to the installer, as I was thinking about upgrading the horrible radio that's in my 240 (only the front speakers were installed, and of that, only the driver's door was actually working -- no rear door or rear parcel shelf speakers).
The installer said I could drive off a cliff before he'd install a stereo system in a 240 again. I didn't really catch much of what he was talking about, but the jist seemed to be he had a miserable time getting the job done and he'd just as soon never do it again. This is from someone who does this all the time, so it made me wonder if I would be crazy to even try it myself.
Has anyone out there done their own audio system? I mean, how hard can it be? I'd have to fish fresh wire to the doors/rear of the car, as there's no wire at all run now, and because I want a sub/amp, would likely have to tap off the battery for power and get a lot of wire run between the front and rear of the car for that as well.
Opinions would be appreciated!
